It doesn’t hurt to get a task by the person who is better it. Does it? It also depends on the type of work as well. For instance, you are into manufacturing cars and one fine day, someone asks you to manufacture clothes. What will you possibly do? You can either go ahead and test your ability or reject the offer instantly. In both the cases, you will not be able to do justice to the work. In the same way, when you talk about designing a website, you just cannot go to any random person and let them do it!

There are professional web designing firms that specialize in developing websites. They are highly creative and efficient in using software tools available for designing. Your customers expect that they find all the relevant information about the product in the most interesting and attractive way. Going by the amount of competition that exists today, you need to provide every little thing that they want, otherwise they always this option of moving to your competitors. Just keep in mind some basic points while choosing a company:

  •  The company should have some experience in the industry
  • The team should be qualified

Website Design is a true team effort and something that evolved over time

Everyone talks about internet, power of web etc. but only few people really understand how website design evolved and what all it encompasses. Web design is a very broad term which includes not only the aesthetics of the website but the development process, web engineering, writing mark-up and even the user experience, interactive design, search engine optimisation etc.

Let us see how it evolved over time- the term World Wide Web was first used in 1989 when Tim Berners made it possible to see text pages through single browser. Consortium W3C was formed in 1994 to evolve the platform by developers and discouraging any single company to gain monopoly as era between 1995 and 1999 was characterised by wars between Microsoft and Netscape to gain dominance. JavaScript and HTML were developed during this time and then Microsoft launched its complete browser in 1996 and created opportunities for developers to use HTML and create complex websites with graphics     and then also came the Flash which was a great innovation. Open Source Licence was launched in 1998 by Netscape which created a level playing field for all engineers and developers to improve the software. Internet explorer’s launch in 2000 with complete compatibility with HTML and CSS was another breakthrough to remember. And coming to today’s time, we have HTML 5 and CSS 3 versions which are latest from W3C.

Talking about the techniques used in increasing the effectiveness of a website design, the components considered by designers include communication design, interactive design, page layout, and typography and motion graphics. Design of website should be well in line with the purpose (selling, broadcasting etc.) and keeping in mind the target audience. The website should be easy to use for the user, who can navigate easily to find the information he wants through clear instructions, layout which is easy to interact with and this calls for minimal plug-ins and friendlier interface. Page layout is quite critical given the different screen sizes used these days with mobiles, tablets, phablets etc. to access net and this has led to evolution of Responsive Design. The layout should be fluid as if it doesn’t fit the users’ screen well, he is likely to switch over to other websites. Another important aspect is typography as the information provided loses its relevance and attraction if the typo style and font are not proportionate.

Thus we see that web design is a true team game with web designers, web developers, engineers, graphic designers, content writers, internet marketing experts all working together to achieve a common goal- successful website design which is truly functional and is appreciated by all.

Web designers debate whether what you see (aesthetics) is more important or universal usability

Gone are the days when being connected to internet meant desktop screen, nowadays with number of latest gadgets increasingly being net friendly, internet has become very flexible possibly connected on any gadget you can lay your hands on. There are tablets, phones, laptops of different screen sizes, huge screen flat smart high definition television sets etc. all mediums for accessing internet.

There are huge discussions around need of adaptable design among web designers and developers and it is impossible to overemphasize the need for the same. When we talk of adaptable or responsive design, the idea is not only to deign aesthetics of the website to suit the medium but also the usability should not be compromised. Different aspect ratios, resolutions are something that need attention apart from size of medium for adaptable designs. Some interesting parallels have been drawn with television in the olden days when content was created to suit all- black and white screens; tv sets of different sizes etc. so that all enjoy the programmes. Similarly these days images’ bitmap has to be made responsive as a very high resolution might take time to load and not be required on smaller screens like mobile. About images, the recent trend is different as Instagram has become a phenomenon where quality of image is judged by its content and not megapixels and thus the aesthetics of website’s images can be altered using monochrome images, blurring some, compressing the images.

Other factors of using images in Design and Development of Websites is progressive enhancement which implies that playing with the number of images or content to suit the medium e.g. for a bigger screen designers can put more images for a company’s website and for mobile or tablet version reduce the same so that aesthetics don’t look cluttered. The important images should stay while the good to haves can be optional thus not compromising on the depth of content offered.

Eventually as the industry analysts feel, things will boil down to care minimum like plain text as that is something all mediums are comfortable with. This addresses the challenges like videos and some images cannot be played on certain devices and thus if all goes back to basic plain text, we can conclude that aesthetics means not merely visual but the overall usability and universal application of the same.

Elements to make your website design more effective and successful

Being a successful web designing company in Delhi requires designing effective websites. An effective design is a result of different elements and we shall discuss some aspects which can help achieve the same. The key is to keep it simple and self-explanatory- to give users the information they want in a clean pattern, design which needs minimum action from users. Highlighting relevant keywords or images, with right writing style and language helps users find information quickly. The aesthetics of the design should be appealing with judicious use of white spaces and incorporating Marcus’ ‘visible language’. Taking learnings from old school of thought and conventional elements into the design also helps reduce errors in design as those are tested theories. Web design companies should also keep testing the website for usability ‘Test early, test often’ and incorporate the feedback in design to keep it effective.
